Abdulla bin Touq: The UAE is A hub for creative and innovative businesses
H.E Abdulla bin Touq highlighted the continued national efforts to solidify the UAE’s position as a
hub for creative and innovative businesses.
Thisi is through implementing new initiatives like the new IP system.
The Minister stressed the significance of this year’s WIPO meeting.
Because it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the UAE’s membership in the organization.
He affirmed the UAE’s keenness to maintain cooperation with WIPO and member states.
As well as its support for IP protection initiatives and knowledge exchange.
Mentioning that the UAE expressed interest in implementing and activating the proposal to host a
WIPO external office in Abu Dhabi.

H.E Abdulla bin Touq welcomed Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO, to participate in the
World Government Summit in February 2025.
The Ministry of Economy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan Patent
Office (JPO).
In order to strengthen cooperation in the field of intellectual property.

The UAE has witnessed significant growth in IP areas over the past years.
Including trademarks, industrial designs, and patent registrations.
The UAE’s participation in WIPO meetings is a crucial opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to
IP protection and fostering innovation across all sectors.
It also seeks to expand its international partnerships in IP and solidify its position as a global
center for the new economy.
