countries and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to access the global trading
system, intellectual property, and WTO's dispute resolution mechanism.
"A robust and inclusive multilateral trading system is essential for fostering
economic growth, creating jobs, and raising living standards. At MC13,
ministers and senior officials worldwide can help ensure that global trade lives
up to this promise by reviewing and refining its rules, confronting issues that
prevent the free flow of goods and services, and supporting the needs of
every nation that wishes to benefit from the multilateral trading system. We
look forward to welcoming all the MC13 participants to Abu Dhabi and
providing a platform conducive to positive, collaborative discussions on the
future of trade," Al Zeyoudi stated.
Side Events, Private Sector Involvement
Al Zeyoudi also said the conference would allow for unprecedented access to
the private sector through the organisation of a record number of side events,
which are intented to foster greater collaboration and partnership between
non-governmental organisations, the private sector, and civil society.
According to the minister, these events are particularly beneficial for UAE
companies working in the trade and logistics sector to show the world their
contributions.
Side events will focus on several areas, including insurance, investment, and
most notably, technology and its integration into trade systems, he added.
"We are launching a report speaking about the future of trade… we want to
start thinking how we want to see the organisation two years from now," Al
Zeyoudi told Aletihad. "On the second day, on the 27th, as a side-line of the
main Ministerial Meeting, there will be a Trade Tech Global Forum, in
partnership with Ministry of Economy where most of the technology aspects
on the whole chain of trade is going to be discussed."
"What we will ensure this time is that those side events will interact with the
ministers by bringing all of them into one place," the minister added.
