The airport’s cargo operations have also seen a significant uptick, handling
               around 170,544 tonnes of freight in 2022, a 21% increase from the previous
               year.

               Furthermore, the expansion includes the addition of new passenger and
               air cargo destinations, underlining the airport’s commitment to enhancing
               global connectivity.


               This strategic move aims to attract more airline customers, especially from
               markets in Europe and East Asia, contributing to the economic expansion
               of Sharjah and the UAE.

               At the Air Cargo India 2024 event, SAA highlighted the latest services and
               solutions at Sharjah Airport’s Air Cargo Centre, emphasising the airport’s
               commitment to elevating service standards and boosting flight capacity.

               Key discussions with air cargo companies, shipping agents, and global
               logistics service providers were centred on fostering collaborative efforts
               and sharing industry insights to enhance air cargo operations.

               Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, remarked on the
               achievements and the continuous efforts to exceed passenger
               expectations and enhance their travelling experience. He emphasised the
               role of these developments in positioning Sharjah Airport among the top
               five regional airports for an exceptional travel experience.
