As part of the project, the DoE retrofitted more than 2,400 buildings, including over 200 classified
as high-risk and prioritised for immediate action.
Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) has successfully completed its building gas
systems retrofit project, achieving 100% completion and recording over 200,000 safe man-hours
since the program’s launch in August 2023. This initiative is part of the DoE’s ongoing commitment
to enhancing the safety and reliability of gas systems across the emirate.
As part of the project, the DoE retrofitted more than 2,400 buildings, including over 200 classified
as high-risk and prioritised for immediate action. The initiative also led to the detection and repair
of 550 gas leaks and the relocation of all gas filling lines to external locations, ensuring full
compliance and completion.
Dr Saif Saeed Al Qubaisi, Acting Director General of Regulatory Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Department
of Energy, emphasized that ensuring the safety of Abu Dhabi’s residents, properties, and economy
is a top priority for the Department.
