In a significant stride towards environmental sustainability, Baker Hughes has collaborated
with bp to introduce an innovative flare emissions monitoring technology, flare.IQ, marking a

significant advancement in the quantification of methane emissions from flaring operations.

This development, announced on 14 March 2024, underscores a pivotal moment in the
upstream oil and gas sector, addressing a critical aspect of emissions reduction. The flare.IQ

technology is designed to provide real-time data on methane slip emissions from flares, a
challenging area that had previously lacked a universally accepted quantification method.

Through an extensive full-scale study involving a variety of flares under challenging

conditions, the accuracy and effectiveness of the flare.IQ technology were validated,
showcasing its potential to significantly reduce emissions.
