UAE And Chile Seal Comprehensive Economic
Partnership Agreement
By OneArabia
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Republic of Chile have reached a pivotal moment in
their bilateral relations with the successful conclusion of negotiations on a Comprehensive
Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This agreement, signed by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al
Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Alberto van Klaveren, Chile's Minister of
Foreign Affairs, signifies a major leap forward in the economic collaboration between the two
nations.
CEPA stands as a cornerstone within the UAE's ambitious programme aimed at elevating its
non-oil foreign trade to an impressive AED4 trillion by 2031. The flourishing trade relationship
between the UAE and Chile is evident, with non-oil trade figures reaching US$305.1 million in
2023, marking a substantial growth of 23.6% since 2019.

Dr. Al Zeyoudi expressed his enthusiasm about the agreement, highlighting its role in providing
UAE companies and exporters with unprecedented access to the burgeoning markets of Chile
and Latin America. "Chile is an ideal partner within the CEPA programme being implemented by
the UAE," he remarked, emphasizing the sustainable and mutually beneficial growth in trade of
goods and services, investment, and economic cooperation that this partnership promises.
