American nations, this momentous step was formalized through a joint statement signed

by Sonsoles Garcia, the Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments, and

Fisheries of Ecuador, and Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the Minister of State for

Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates.

The decision to pursue a CEPA underscores the UAE’s strategic objective to bolster its
commercial and investment presence in Latin America while fostering sustainable

economic growth. By eliminating trade barriers and promoting the exchange of goods
and services, the partnership aims to substantially enhance bilateral trade beyond the oil

sector and facilitate increased investment flows between the two nations. This initiative
opens up new economic opportunities for both countries, leveraging the UAE’s economic

strength and Ecuador’s favorable geographic position.

The initiation of negotiations aligns with the UAE’s ongoing efforts to solidify its position

as a global hub for trade, investment, and logistics. Dr. Al Zeyoudi highlighted the

substantial opportunities for deeper economic integration between the UAE and Ecuador

across various sectors, including agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, technology, and

renewable energy. Minister Garcia emphasized the enduring trade ties between Ecuador

and the UAE, emphasizing the active participation of business communities and private

sectors in expanding economic cooperation. This significant step marks a milestone in

the evolving partnership between the UAE and Ecuador, paving the way for enhanced

               collaboration and mutual prosperity.
