Key proposals included progressing the first set of circular economy policies and initiating
work on a second set. The council also underscored the role of the Aluminium Recycling
Coalition in advancing aluminium recycling operations across the UAE.
Bin Touq highlighted the UAE’s commitment to developing an integrated circular economy
ecosystem aligned with the "We the UAE 2031" vision.
“Innovation and digital transformation will be central to
these initiatives, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a
global circular economy hub,”
he stated.
The meeting reviewed milestones achieved, such as integrating circular economy topics
into the Investopia Summit agenda, which has fostered sustainable partnerships in
manufacturing, green infrastructure, and transportation.
Following the meeting, Bin Touq inaugurated Landmark Group’s “CircuLife” textile
recycling facility, the first of its kind in the UAE and the region. The facility uses advanced
recycling technologies to process over 200,000 tons of textile waste annually, diverting
90% from landfills.
Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, CEO of UICCA, called for greater
commitment and accountability in achieving the council’s 10-year strategy. Renuka
Jagtiani, Chairwoman of Landmark Group, reaffirmed the importance of public-private
partnerships in advancing sustainability.
