Food delivery order alert
in Dubai: what you need
to know
Take extra care with takeaways
By Emilie Hill March 25, 2024
Dubai Municipality has issued a food delivery order alert in Dubai to protect the safety of residents
and tourists in Dubai.
In a recent tweet, the authority released a set of basic guidelines to follow when it comes to ordering
a takeaway through your chosen delivery app, to protect the health of residents and tourists.
It said: “Order food from nearby restaurants so that it is delivered within half an hour to enjoy a fresh
and safe meal.”
If you didn’t know, when receiving your order, make sure you separate the hot food from cold food as
soon as possible.
Dubai Municipality has also laid out very strict guidelines to regulate the transportation of hot foods
and cold foods.
The boxes your meal is transported in should be capable of keeping the food hot above 60 degrees
Celsius during the entire duration, from the driver picking it up to knocking on your door. So if your hot
food isn’t piping hot, be wary of tucking in.

And cooked or refrigerated food should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours after
receiving it. Left too long outside the fridge and bacteria can start to grow, and we all know what could
happen next.
Food should not be stored in the refrigerator for too long either, and should be enjoyed on the same
or next day, the Municipality said.
