His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime
Minister, may God protect him, in his capacity as Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, issued
Decree No. (16) of 2024 forming the Board of Trustees of the Emirates Food Bank
Foundation, headed by Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum,
The supreme president of the institution.
The Board of Trustees of the Emirates Food Bank Foundation, in accordance with the
decree, includes: The Director General of Dubai Municipality, as Vice President, and the
members: The Executive Director of the Community Empowerment Sector at the
Community Development Authority in Dubai, and a representative of each of: The
Endowments Foundation and Minors’ Funds Management in Dubai, and the Initiatives
Foundation. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International, the Dubai Government
Media Office, the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, and the
Food and Beverage Industry Group. Representatives of the aforementioned entities are
named by their officials, and the Council also includes in its membership the Executive
Director of the Foundation.
This decree shall be effective from the date of its issuance and shall be published in the
Official Gazette.
The Emirates Food Bank Foundation was established in 2017 in accordance with Law No.
(7) of the same year, with the aim of consolidating the values of social responsibility and
volunteerism and stimulating the adoption of concepts of sustainability by encouraging the
reduction of food waste through effective partnerships with the authorities concerned with
the food and hospitality sector, especially at the level of… The private sector and
individuals, and working to spread awareness and the culture of volunteering so that the
UAE becomes a model to be followed in preserving food and reducing its waste levels to
the lowest possible extent, in line with the approach of the UAE and the Emirate of Dubai in
the field of sustainability.
