During plasma coating of hexagonal boron nitride, its transformation into a cubic structure causes the formation of a transparent layer on the surface to which it adheres. This layer is at the nanoscale and provides very high strength relative to its thickness. The device used to perform this process does not have the capacity to accommodate parts larger than 400 mm. In addition, it significantly increases costs. Besides being a complex system, its continuity cannot currently be scaled to an industrial level with today%u2019s technology. In order to be used in products such as paints and coatings, it should be applied in its own form as a filler. It must be optimized within formulations and the necessary R&D studies must be conducted. Once a suitable formulation is obtained, high-performance products can be achieved in the relevant application areas.Hexagonal boron nitride is a solid white material with a powdery texture and is insoluble. Its use in products such as paints and coatings%u2014applications with relatively lower added value compared to other fields where nanomaterials are used%u2014significantly increases costs. Depending on parameters such as particle size, surface area, and number of layers, which can be considered indicators of quality, it can be used in paint and coating applications. An increase in the number of layers, particle size, and surface area negatively affects quality. When used as a filler in paints and coatings, it can transfer its intrinsic properties to the coating.Even small amounts of nanoscale hexagonal boron nitride can provide the required resistance.
