Fragments — The London Nail Bombings (Radio 4, 7.15pm)
In 1999 three people were murdered and 140 injured in neo-Nazi nail bomb attacks in Brixton
Market, Brick Lane and Soho’s Admiral Duncan pub. The programme looks back at the atrocity
through the eyes of Chris Taylor, a photographer who covered the aftermath of the Soho bomb,
and those who survived the attacks.
Sunday Feature (Radio 3, 7.15pm)
Gavin Bryars reflects on his 1971 piece Jesus’ Blood Never Failed Me Yet, which uses a short
recording of an anonymous homeless man singing of hope, and has become an anthem for the
homeless community. The piece has had several incarnations, from its release on Brian Eno’s
Obscure label to a 1993 remixed version featuring Tom Waits, which was nominated for a
Mercury prize.
