They are now getting ready for their return to Cumbria later in the
year with details now emerging about what locals can look forward to.
One of the performances for the orchestra was at the Dock Museum on
Saturday, August 3.
This saw them take part in BarrowFull's latest Playcation event and
collaborate with Barrow AFC - including the team's mascot Bluey trying
his hand at conducting the musicians.
A spokesperson from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic said: "That was
just one of the many highlights from our weekend in Barrow.
"We can't wait to be back in the autumn for another season of events."
The orchestra is currently undertaking a three-year partnership with
Barrow, due to the town's categorisation as an Arts Council England
Priority Place.
The aim of these specially recognised areas is to rebalance arts
investment, focusing on nurturing cultural development and
opportunities.
The deal with the orchestra, which started in January, has been described
as a 'significant cultural investment' in Barrow.
Since the partnership began, the orchestra has been involved in
numerous performances across the region, including pop-up chamber
music concerts, dementia-friendly performances, and music-making
events for children.
Two concerts have now been announced as part of the Philharmonic's
autumn return.
On Friday, October 11, they will be performing alongside Jasdeep Singh
Degun at The Forum in Barrow.
Jasdeep, the winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society's 2024
Instrumentalist of the Year Award, will be joined on stage by children
from schools in the area for a performance to remember.
