            Callum McLachlan is hoping to make it to the final
            This month the finest young pianists will gather in Bradford for the Leeds International

            Piano Competition, which happens every three years. The contest, founded in 1961 by

            the indomitable Yorkshire piano teacher Fanny Waterman, can make a career and has
            helped to launch piano-playing legends, including Murray Perahia and Radu Lupu.




            Alim Beisembayev remembers the night he won in 2021 for playing
            Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. “They announced the prizes in
