Aurora Orchestra announces autumn season
12:29, 26th August 2020
Aurora Orchestra has announced its autumn season, which sees a return to live
performance at its Kings Place home for the first time since the start of lockdown.
On 7 September, the orchestra will stage an outdoor concert under the West Handyside Canopy in
King’s Cross in partnership with Kings Place – one of the first opportunities to see a full orchestra
perform in the UK since March.
The orchestra will also perform as part of the BBC Proms’ special series of live performances, for
which they will play Beethoven’s Symphony No 7 from memory, and a new commission from
Richard Ayres exploring Beethoven’s journey into deafness.
Later on in the year, the orchestra will perform three concerts at Kings Place in October,
November and December, including new commissions from former BBC Young Composers.
In addition, Aurora’s Music of the Spheres album is released on Deutsche Grammophon on 28
August.
