The Sixteen announces new Genesis Sixteen singers

                           and sixth Sounds Sublime Festival

The Sixteen, now in its 40th anniversary year, has announced its new cohort of Genesis
Sixteen singers and sixth Sounds Sublime Festival.
Genesis Sixteen is The Sixteen’s free young artists’ scheme for 18 – 23 year olds, offering
mentoring and masterclasses to a group of talented ensemble singers selected each year.
Supported by the Genesis Foundation, the fully funded programme is led by key figures from The
Sixteen including founder and conductor Harry Christophers CBE.

The chosen singers for 2019/20 are:

           • Sopranos: Imogen Creedy, Emma Huggett, Isabelle Palmer, Laura Rushforth, Emily
              Varney, Amy Walker, Rosanna Wicks
           • Altos: Alex Hutton, Sophie Overin, Joy Sutcliffe, Clare Sutherland, Chloe Wedlake

           • Tenors: Hugh Beckwith, James Draper, Joseph Cavalli-Price, Robert Guthrie, Jack Patrick
              Harberd

           • Basses: Teddy Day, Philip Normand, Jack Redman, Jonty Ward, James Watkins
Associate conductor of The Sixteen, Eamonn Dougan, commented: ‘Each year of Genesis Sixteen
has a different dynamic, yet it’s always fascinating to see how quickly a bond is created between
singers of different backgrounds, varying levels of experience and with contrasting musical
outlooks. It’s one of the many joys and benefits of being part of an ensemble. This will be the 9th
generation of the scheme and I’ve no doubt they will continue to raise the bar for all that Genesis
Sixteen stands for: development, teamwork, excellence and no small amount of fun.’

Also announced is The Sixteen’s annual Sounds Sublime Festival, taking place on Saturday 20
July at St Clement Danes. Highlights include a performance by Streetwise Opera responding to
Eric Whitacre’s Leonardo Dreams of his Flying Machine supported by Genesis Sixteen alumni, the
annual Genesis Sixteen lunchtime concert, and performances from ensembles formed of Genesis
Sixteen alumni including the Fieri Consort and Recordare Chamber Choir.
