In response to the news, Ian Porthouse said. "It was perhaps the greatest
moment of Tredegar's musical history to perform Gavin's work with the
National Orchestra of Wales at the BBC Proms.

The response on the night and since has simply been incredible. Gavin an
amazing composer and we hope that his composition gains the recognition it

deserves."

Lisa Tregale, Director of the National Orchestra of Wales added: "I'm delighted

that Gavin's work has ben shortlisted for a RPS Award.

Not only is this a ground-breaking piece on so many levels, it has also facilitated
a long-term partnership between Tredegar Band and BBC NOW which has
benefitted the local community and cultural ecology of Wales and beyond."

The work received its world premiere at the 2022 BBC Proms

Brabbins and Williams

Further good news for the brass banding world has seen conductor Martyn
Brabbins, Music Director at English National Opera, and guest conductor of the
National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain in 2022 nominated in the 'Conductor

of the Year' category, whilst soprano singer Nardus Williams, who was the guest
soloist with the National Youth Band at its 70th anniversary concert in London
has been nominated in the 'Young Artist' category.
