RPS Awards 2024: Wins for Laurence
Osborn and Lotte Betts-Dean
6 March 2024
Held for the first time in Manchester, this year’s Royal Philharmonic Society
Awards Ceremony celebrated a thrilling and tumultuous year of music making across
the United Kingdom. In an exciting turn, the first two awards of the night were won by
Rayfield Allied artists: the Chamber-Scale Composition award going to
composer Laurence Osborn, and the Young Artist Award going to mezzo-
soprano Lotte Betts-Dean.
Winning for his piece, TOMB!, Osborn’s work for 12 Ensemble and the piano-
percussion duo GBSR was celebrated as immersing “the listener in a sound-world
that defies expectation and shows a composer reaching new heights.” In the
prestigious Young Artist category, winner Betts-Dean was lauded as “a visionary
performer, blazing through so much daring repertoire, and plunging into one bold
collaboration after another.”
Rayfield Allied extends a heartfelt congratulations to all winners and nominees at this
year’s RPS Awards.
