We are truly honoured that the work of the Irene Taylor Trust and our Artistic Director Sara
Lee has been recognised by the RPS Awards 2024 with their ‘Gamechanger’ award ‘for those
who in unique and contemporary ways break new ground in classical music. It is specially
presented by the Board and Council of the RPS to an initiative, individual, group or
organisation for their inspirational and transformative work.’
Our sincere thanks to the Royal Philharmonic Society and to nkoda for sponsoring
the ‘Gamechanger’ award. You can hear highlights from the RPS Awards on BBC Radio 3 via
BBC Sounds here (we’re mentioned around 01:13). The ceremony was also recorded and will
be available to watch on the RPS website later in the month.
Sadly Sara is currently in Chicago, for one of our commissions with the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra (including a Notes For Peace project) so had to pre-record the acceptance message
below, accompanied by artist Noble1BOF from our Sounding Out programme (our thanks to
RPS for permission to share the film they created for the ceremony). Our work with classical
music also includes our Lullaby Project collaboration with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Resound, which has recently started a new phase supported by Arts Council England.
RPS Chairman John Gilhooly gave a powerful description of our work at the ceremony:
