The Guildhall School of Music & Drama in the U.K. has announced its summer
programming.
For the purposes of this article, our focus will be on operatic and vocal showcases.
First up will be “The Gold Medal,” a concert from Barbican Hall that will feature four
finalists vying for the top prize. Soloists include Thando Mjandana, Laura Lolita
Perešivana, Olivia Boen, and Tom Mole performing a vast repertory that includes
music by Donizetti, Mozart, Heggie, Vitols, Rachmaninoff, Messiaen, Marx,
Finzi, Verdi, and Bizet, among others.

In the “Introduction to Opera” slate, there will be a presentation of a reduced version
of “Die Fledermaus.”
Streaming Date: May 21, 2021
Guildhall Musicians will be featured in several “Vocal Scenes.”
The Vocal Department will also stream four new and early operas including
“Apothecary,” “I’m Cleaning, I’m Cleaning,” “Eintänzer,” “Orphée descandant aux
Enfers,” and “Judicium Salomonis.”
