Musicians from Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London are partnering with UK
Camden to bring music to isolated people living with dementia during the times of
COVID-19. The program is entitled “Music Bank.”
Per a press release, over 1.4 million older people in London are struggling with
social isolation and the aim of the organizations is to create a musical experience
that will provide some company and support for these isolated men and women.
Around 12 students, staff, and alumni from Guildhall School and 12 Age UK Camden
clients will connect over Zoom for 30-45 minute sessions. The program is set to start
this November.
“We are very excited to be launching ‘Music Bank’ in partnership with Age UK
Camden. Conversation and friendship sit at the heart of this important project, a
collaboration that brings together an extraordinary program of musical styles and
influences. Technology, innovation, and live performance working in perfect
harmony,” said Sean Gregory, Director of Innovation & Engagement, Guildhall
School of Music & Drama & Barbican, in the press release.
Students, staff, and alumni from Guildhall School involved in the project include John
Morcom, Jack Hudson, Caroline Breman, Nicola Demosthenous, Catherine Price,
