Bevan and Wigglesworth are determined to carry on that tradition. “We now run the music at a
little Catholic church near us in Oxfordshire, and Ryan plays the organ,” Bevan says. “It’s very
important to us to celebrate the liturgy each Sunday in this way, especially as there are fewer
and fewer Catholic churches where this sort of music is sung. It’s also important to make music
together that isn’t part of our jobs. If we were being paid to do it, it wouldn’t be the same.”
“And the best thing,” Wigglesworth adds, “is that our children can sing with us when they are
old enough.”
Bevan and Wigglesworth perform at the Aldeburgh Festival (brittenpearsarts.org) on
June 12 and 24; and at the Wigmore Hall (wigmore-hall.org.uk) on July 17
