After listening recently to tenor and alto versions of this Schubert cycle, this interpretation brought to
mind the golden times and golden names of the Lieder performers. Probably, my memories have a
basis: Benjamin Appl became the last student of the great Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
Appl was born in 1982 in Regensburg.Together with his brothers he sang in the Regensburg
