Housing market stats and where to live
Currently, REALTOR.ca features a variety of listings available in Antigonish, including move-in ready homes along
with vacant lots. Prices range from as low as $69,000 for a mobile home and $225,000 for a duplex, while three to four
bedroom properties begin at $229,900 and sell for as high as $929,000.
Similar to many areas in Canada, the pandemic-driven market has resulted in record-breaking home sales throughout
Nova Scotia and the province’s Highlands Region. According to the Nova Scotia Association of REALTORS®, home
sales through the MLS® System totaled 1,499 in May 2021, which was a new sales record for the month and a 65.3%
gain over May 2020. The median price of homes in the province reached $315,700—a 28.3% increase year-over-
year—while the residential average price in the Highlands Region rose 60.7% to $232,012. However, according to the
Canadian Real Estate Association, national home sales activity appears to be calming down. Sales were down about
7% from April to May, with new listings down by about the same. Both were also down from March to April.
These stats are reason enough to consider using a REALTOR® when looking to purchase a home in Antigonish. Not
to mention, their expert advice and real estate expertise allow you to maximize your budget and take advantage of
opportunities as soon as they arise.
Antigonish is an accessible town where everything is easy to get to by foot or bike—but if you wish to explore all
it has to offer, including Antigonish County, a vehicle is needed. There are three schools to educate your children at
each stage of their academic journey: Antigonish Education Centre, Saint Andrew Junior School, Dr. John Hugh Gillis
Regional High School, and St. Francis Xavier University. And the Antigonish region provides economic opportunity
and stability for entrepreneurs and new residents.
Whether you’re interested in moving to the community or just looking for an interesting place to explore, the Highland
