Prepare Your Home for Summer...
tips from the Pros at
May...
hat summertime feel means warmer temperatures,
the start of outdoor grilling (or even more grilling
Tif you grill year-round), and more time outside in
the yard.
There’s a John Mayer song that goes “A little bit of
summer’s what the whole year’s all about.” That idea
couldn’t be more true, especially in relation to your home
life experience this summer and preparing for the months
ahead to really capitalize on this season.
While you are gearing up for summertime plans, it’s
important to keep in mind certain challenges and needed
alterations that it brings. Is your patio or deck looking a bit
dingy and dirty? Give it a wash and get it sparkling clean.
For inside your home, make sure that all smoke and
carbon monoxide detectors are working and ready to
alert you about anything from a gas leak to extra crispy
cookies that were left in the oven for too long.
Here’s your May checklist:
c Give your patio or deck a wash
c Check grout in the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. --
repair as needed
c Inspect plumbing for leaks, clean aerators on faucets
c Inspect and possibly change out HVAC filters
c Clean range hood filters
c Inspect the exterior of your home for any damage
c Check foundation for drainage away from the home
c Test carbon monoxide and smoke detectors
c Run water and flush toilets in unused spaces
