il India Limited (OIL) is a fully integrated Exploration
& Production company in the upstream sector, whose
Oorigin dates back to the glorious year (1889) of oil discovery
in India.
It is a state-owned enterprise of the Government of India, under the
administrative control of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas
(MoPNG). A Navratna PSU, OIL is the second largest national oil and
gas company in India. OIL has carved a niche as a leading national oil
and gas company in the upstream sector with a legacy of hydrocarbon
exploration for over five decades and having a share of about 8.8% of
the country’s total crude oil production and Natural Gas production.
Besides having a Pan-India presence, OIL has considerable
International presence with Participating Interest (PI) in blocks
present in over ten countries viz Libya, Gabon, Nigeria, Venezuela,
USA, Mozambique, Russia, Bangladesh & Israel besides a product
pipeline at Sudan. The Company also has stakes in Numaligarh
Refinery Limited and Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited.
As one of its strategic initiatives, OIL has selectively diversified into
the Renewable & Alternate Energy sector. OIL has installed and
commissioned Renewable Energy (RE) projects in the Wind and Solar
domains. Presently, the total RE capacity of OIL stands at 188.10 MW
comprising 174.10 MW of Wind Energy projects and 14 MW of Solar
Energy projects.
