5. Previous Experience & References TCI Cultural Planning Experience
The following are more detailed examples of cultural planning projects we have completed with similarities to the Three Rivers Project. A more fulsome presentation of TCI’s cultural planning experience is presented in Appendix B.
Grimsby Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan (2019)
In association with the consulting form MHBC, we developed a parks, recreation and culture Master Plan for the Town of Grimsby. The plan was based upon extensive public input through interviews, surveys, public meetings and attendance by the consultants at various community events and activities. TCI’S role in the plan was to develop the ‘arts and culture’ side of the plan, while MHBC’s role was to focus on the parks and recreation side. The integrated plan was adopted by Council in early 2019.
Collingwood Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan (2018)
Also, in association with MHBC, we developed a parks, recreation and culture Master Plan for the Town of Collingwood. The plan was based upon extensive public input through interviews, surveys, public meetings and attendance by the consultants at various community events and activities (e.g., the ‘Elvis’ festival). TCI’S role in the plan was to develop the ‘arts and culture’ side of the plan, while MHBC’s role was to focus on the parks and recreation side. The plan was adopted by Council in the Fall of 2018.
Wilmot Arts and Culture Strategy (2018)
For the Township of Wilmot in Waterloo Region, home of Castle Ki bride National Historic Site, we prepared an arts, culture and heritage master plan, which was to direct the efforts of the municipality over the next five-year period. Working closely with a Steering Committee comprised of community representatives and Township staff, the project involved an extensive community survey, several presentations and input sessions with the community, an organization and business survey, and a review of the activities of comparable municipalities. The plan was approved by Council in November
2018.
