Lotterywest | Celebrating intercultural learning
Working with leading Nyoongar musicians and artists, our Deadly Arts programs in Western Australia brought families, teachers and students together to learn about local Nyoongar culture and to connect the community.
Lotterywest generously funded eight programs in Perth where community leaders, artists, teachers, students and parents connected through storytelling, mural painting, learning the didgeridoo, singing in language, and dance. One parent brought her mother to the weekly yarning sessions, giving three generations from the one family access to the program. The programs culminated
in a beautiful celebration of culture, community and learning at the annual NAIDOC concert.
We are extremely grateful to Lotterywest for their valued contribution. We are looking forward to commencing six
new Deadly Arts programs with them in 2021, and we are thrilled that they are supporting us to produce new Deadly Arts resources for our digital learning platform ARTS:LIVE.
