Winner of international arts education award the M Prize. Selected from 300 global organisations and individuals, The Song Room was recognised for having made outstanding contributions to arts education by the Ningbo Huamao Education Foundation, through the generosity of patron Mr Xu Wanmao.
The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) concluded independent research into The Song Room’s 3-year Transforming Learning through Creativity (TLC) pilot program due for publication in 2023.
Victorian Aboriginal Language Teachers Association (VALTA) invited The Song Room to speak at their inaugural forum in 2022 to 80 educators from across Victoria about Deadly Arts programs in NSW and WA.
Alice Gerlach (CEO) is a member of the Advocacy Working Group for Alberts | Tony Foundation’s Music Right From the Start Initiative.
World Indigenous Peoples’ Conference on Education (WIPCE) 2022 was attended by The Song Room Community Liaison Officers Irma Woods and Colin Watego with Director Arts Learning, Elise Hopkins.
ARIA PARTNERSHIP
As founding partner of the Telstra ARIA Music Teacher Award, The Song Room partnered with ARIA for a sixth year in 2022 to shine a light on music education and the essential role that music teachers play in inspiring and championing the next generation of young creators, their schools, and communities.
The nominated music teachers were celebrated at the ARIA Awards Ceremony where the award featured in the live broadcast, and during the ARIA Week ‘Music Education Panel’.
