VERAK EMC ® Introduction 3 Introduction to VERAK EMC ® VERAK EMC is a standard range of stand alone cabinets that ® protects equipment from radio frequency interference enabling electronic systems to comply with the requirements for electro- magnetic compatibility. VERAK EMC gives more than 80 dB ® attenuation at 100 MHz and 40 dB attenuation at 1 GHz, the high- est levels available in a standard product from any manufacturer. The stainless gaskets provides for electrical continuity between panels. They self-secure into slots punched in the EMC screen, making it impossible to remove without a tool. VERAK EMC is an ® extremely robust cabinet: the 2 mm framework gives exceptional strength/rigidity and therefore provides for a static load capacity of 1000 kg. The sides of the knife-edges integrated in the frame are the contact faces of the EMC “fingers”, so that the ground integrity is maintained throughout the structure and all removable parts. The front and the rear doors are easily reversible (right or left opening) and are provided with a closing mechanism which includes a seal wedge to prevent the integrity of the sealing sys- tem. A swing handle controls a 4-point locking system with central camshaft holding the proper pressure on the “fingers” for continu- ity. VERAK EMC is available with steel or glass front or rear ® door. The EMC panels and the metal door have a double panel consisting of a conducting inner layer and an external painted one. The EMC glass door, in particular, is equipped with a thin metal mesh enclosed between two sheets of 3 mm glass to main- tain ground continuity and to allow the visual inspection of the equipment without compromising the EMC performance. The ca- bles can be brought into the rack from the bottom and through 10U high recessed cable entry panel, fitted above or below shortened front or rear doors. Recessed panels ensure that connectors do not protrude outside the overall footprint of the enclosure and re- movable flat gland plates make punching and drilling an easy job. All of these features ensure that the connectors are kept internally the overall cabinet dimensions while the flat removable cabinet bottom plates allow practicing the required holes and cable entry in a smooth way, without compromising the EMC performance. VERAK EMC cabinets can be fitted with solid top covers and ® plain or vented bases. The ventilated covers allow natural or forced convection cooling without reducing the enclosure’s EMC performance. Other solutions are available: for example integrat- ed forced cooling fan trays that can be mounted externally to the protected area. Standard fan tray includes 4 or 6 fans. VERAK EMC modern soft–line design, slightly curved styling is ® equally at home in the office, the communications room or on the factory floor. Its two–tone grey color scheme is neutral, blending with most modern decors, making VERAK EMC the ideal choice ® for both heavy industrial, electronics and telecoms applications.
