History of Radial Planar Chromatographic Analysis (RPC)
Since the 1930s, chemists and lubrication engineers have utilized RPC analysis to monitor the condition of lubricants and to determine when fluid changes are required.
FORD, Chrysler, and General Motors utilized RPC analysis to monitor oxidation, cycling, and wear test results on all candidate DEXRON and MERCON automatic transmission fluids from the mid-1950s through the mid-1990s.
The RPC process provides a comprehensive evaluation of a fluid’s condition including a measure of additive depletion, dispersant properties and the level of sludge or debris.
