 FLUID SAMPLING TOOL INSTRUCTIONS
Immerse the Fluid Sampling Tool to the bottom of the reservoir and stir.
Place one drop of sample fluid in each circle from a recently running engine.
Wipe the Fluid Sampling Tool clean so it will be ready to reuse.
    Overview:
All modern lubricants contain additives that inhibit breakdown. As these additives are depleted the fluid degrades and is no longer able to perform its intended function.
Degraded fluids affect lubrication regimes reducing clearances or plugging passageways thus increasing friction heat and wear. The increase in friction results in higher energy requirements or malfunctions. The resulting increase in operating temperatures causes autocatalytic effects on the fluids ability to prevent sludge and accelerates acid buildup promoting corrosion. The net result is an increase in maintenance and operating costs and shorter component life.
Fluid Rx DiagnosticsTM is a patented radial planar chromatographic analysis tool that provides a measure of additive depletion and the level of sludge or debris in a lubricant. The ISO* diagnostic chart shows how each specific fluid appears at various stages of depletion on the unique test sheet.
FluidRxDiagnosticsTM provides“ScientificVerification” when a fluid should be serviced, regardless of OE time / mileage recommendations, by measuring additive depletion, dispersant properties and total sludge or debris content of fluids and oils.
The Science of Fluid Rx DiagnosticsTM :
As fluid test specimens percolate through the unique Fluid Rx DiagnosticsTM filter paper, bands and/or zones of different hues, densities, and even unwanted wear metals and debris form a chromatogram. Changes in the appearance of these zones or bands are a clear indication that something in the lubricant has changed. A closer look at the zones, their unique formation, and the debris fields contained therein reveal high particle counts that can be correlated to ISO* Code.
The chromatograms in each fluid diagnostic chart, pictures of fluids at various stages of condition, GOOD - CHANGE - OVERDUE, are correlated to laboratory analysis by SGS Herguth Laboratories of Vallejo, California.
GOOD: This sample is slightly darker than new and absorbs into the test medium very quickly.
CHANGE: This sample has become darker due to normal degradation and the presence of wear debris. Although this fluid will provide some protection the degradation process will become much faster.
OVERDUE: This sample has gone beyond its useful service life and needs to be changed. Making sure your fluids never get to this stage will save many dollars in needless repairs and extend the service life of the vehicle.
 Testing & Analysis:
Not all fluids are the same. For instance Fluid Rx DiagnosticsTM currently provides four (4) different diagnostic charts for specific variations of Power Steering fluids and three (3) different diagnostic charts for ATF. The correct chart must be used when testing and analyzing a fluid.
AdditionallyFluidRxDiagnosticsTM R&Discontinuously developing diagnostic charts for new OE fluid formulations. Not all fluids currently utilized by OE can be evaluated with our existing diagnostic charts.
1. Use the dipstick or fluid sampling tool to place one drop of fluid in each circle from a recently running vehicle.
2. Compare test samples to the diagnostic chart and mark the condition within 5-30 minutes (diesel +2 hours).
3. The fluid spot will fade after 30 minutes and will no longer resemble the images on the diagnostic chart.
4. To confirm previous test results or to verify performance of service, repeat the test.
Fluid Rx DiagnosticsTM is designed as an aid in determining the condition of specific lubricants. There is no guarantee expressed or implied against component failure. The equipment manufacturer’s recommended practices should be followed.
