Herguth Laboratories White Paper Overview:
“Evaluation of Field Test Methods for DOT-3 and DOT-4 Brake Fluids”
This paper demonstrates the accuracy and comprehensive analysis provided by Fluid Rx Diagnostics’ (FRxD) Radial Planar Chromatographic (RPC) technology.
The analysis of 23 brake fluids (supplied by AMRA/MAP 2005 Winter Technical Meeting’s Fluids Task Force) compares the copper test results to accuracy of Fluid Rx Diagnostics RPC technology.
Synopsis:
The copper test provides an early indication of depletion of anti-corrosion additives only. But as corrosion continues and attacks metal components, the copper plates out to the steel and is no longer available as a reliable indicator of the fluids condition.
In the Herguth analysis, fluids failed by the copper test are marked in ‘Yellow’. Fluids failed by FRxD’s RPC technology are marked in ‘Red’.
All fluids marked in ‘Yellow’ tested as “CHANGE” or “OVERDUE by FRxD. Those fluids marked only in ‘Red’ tested “OVERDUE” by FRxD - but passed the copper test.
The FRxD RPC technology provides an accurate evaluation of the condition of fluids over their entire lifecycle.
