‘George, are you ready yet?’ his mum shouted. ‘It’s time to go, or we’ll

be late!’ George 2 his new, shiny school bag and went

downstairs. George’s Mum made him a yummy lunch to take to school with

ham and cheese sandwiches and a small bowl of fruit salad.

When George got to school, he saw that there were lots of children already

in the 3 . It made him feel nervous. ‘What’s going on?’
George asked. ‘It looks like you're having a back to school party in the

playground George!’ said Mum. ‘And look over there! That’s your friend

Katie, isn’t it?’ George saw his friend Katie waiting for him at the gate. ‘Oh

yes!’ he said. ‘See you later Mum!’

George spent the whole day with his friend Katie. They played games in

the playground, read books under the trees, saw the new school garden

and then went to their new 4 George’s new teacher,

Miss Roberts, let them choose where they wanted to sit! So George and

Katie sat together and coloured their new school books together. George
