BOOSTED CAPABILITIES KEEP DELTRON ON TOP
The region’s most popular solvent-borne refinish system gets a major update, headlined by global product technologies which have been tuned for local users.
PPG’S DELTRON REFINISH system has received a comprehensive update, as well as well as a switch to new clear and logical global branding. While the tinter formulations and current tinter number system remain the same, the revised range welcomes next- generation primers, clearcoats, thinners, hardeners and additives which are set to further improve flexibility, productivity and speed.
MADE AND TUNED FOR LOCAL USERS
Even though the updated Deltron paint system comes packed with global technology, PPG’s commitment to local manufacturing ensures it continues to be made locally from high quality raw materials. Just as important for regional users, is the fact it has been formulated by the R&D team within PPG’s Clayton headquarters. Using feedback from existing customers, they were able to take advantage of advanced technology building block from PPG’s global network in order to create next-generation primers, clearcoats, thinners, hardeners and additives. As part of the process, they have been specifically tuned to meet local needs, in terms of application, performance and long-term durability. For example, the clearcoats have been formulated with plenty of UV absorber to help them cope with harsh local conditions which can break down products that are not prepared for it.
A lot of thought went the fresh global branding which is logical, clear and very convenient for painters using it every day. Each product type now uses a different colour and product codes features two letters, followed by three numbers. The first letter is ‘D’ for Deltron, while the second clearly indicates the product type: C – Clearcoat, P – Primer. This logical labelling continues for hardeners and thinners where the last two digits of the product code signifies the temperature/speed it’s intended to be used at. For example, ‘20’ is ‘medium’ range designed for 20°C to 30°C or spot repairs at high temps.
THINNERS AND HARDENERS
More than ever, these new generation thinners and hardeners are a key feature of the Deltron paint system. For example, the majority of the thinners and hardeners (in a variety of temperature ranges) are shared across nearly all of the primers and clearcoats. As well as the convenience factor, it also keeps the entire Deltron paint system compact and reduces stock holdings for customers. What’s more, a

specialised thinner now provides the option for an ‘accelerated mode’ which can be used on all three clearcoats and some primers.
PRIMERS
No less than seven new primer formulations are available, giving repairers the ability to tackle any job or substrate with speed, efficiency and a solid foundation. As well as the convenience of sharing thinners and hardeners across most of the range, other features include excellent Wet-On-Wet options, spectral grey shades to help improve topcoat coverage and several primers which offer an accelerated mode (by using a specific thinner) for when a job needs to be pushed through quickly.

CLEARCOATS
To literally provide the finishing touch, three new clearcoats arrive to provide an option for any application. As well as easy to recognise naming, all three of these next-gen clearcoats share thinners, hardeners and mixing ratios and there is the option of an accelerated mode (down to as little as 15 minute bake time) by using a specific thinner. Keep all three on the shelf or choose the one which suits you best.

ROLL OUT
New Deltron pproducts will begin arriving shortly and you’ll notice the fresh branding, while the tinter range will switch to new branding once existing stock runs out.
