MIRKA GOES CORDLESS
By ditching the power cord, Mirka’s compact new battery driven spot sanders offer ease of use and electric performance that is perfect for modern repair process productivity.
Electric tools offer more efficiency, more performance, more control and more productivity. Mirka has launched of a pair of compact, battery-driven spot repair sanders – the AOS-B is a 32mm device with a 3mm orbit, while the AROS-B is a 32mm device with a 5mm random orbit.
In contrast to pneumatic sanders, it also requires no lubrication which removes the risk of job contamination. Mirka has estimated that the AOS-B and AROS-B use only around 1% of the energy required to perform the same tasks with a pneumatic tool.

GLASURIT NAILS IT
Glasurit has launched its latest RATIO Scan 12/6 spectrophotometer, which draws on the world's largest colour database, Glasurit Color Online, to ensure optimal refinishing solutions. It scans the paint surface even more finely and offers technical innovations and intelligent links to ensure an even quicker work flow. The user can scan the area surrounding the repair site in real-time for measurement and depict it on the colour touch display. With two types of light, blue and white LED, 12 angles of incidence of light are measured and documented in six photos. This allows precise analysis of colour, texture and effect pigments and reliably determines even challenging colours.
The spectrophotometers are connected with Glasurit's Profit Manager Pro colour and materials management system. The results can be transmitted wirelessly to the mixing room computer and compared to the database. In addition to the review of millions of measurement values within the colour database, a BASF-patented search and correction algorithm ensures that the results are converted into perfect refinish solutions. Not only are the best matches displayed; the algorithms also provide suggestions for correction that can make the results even better. Colour visualisations and spectral curves show how well the suggested solutions match the measured colours. The relevant formulation can be mixed directly as needed, helping to achieve higher throughput rates.
