  Monitoring system for building safety
ABB HAS LAUNCHED NaveoPro for main- tenance planning and building safety.
The NaveoPro system allows customers to set up, maintain and fully control their entire emergency lighting installation with a new mobile app.
This provides a real time overview of all sys- tems, saving time, enabling better mainte- nance planning and enhancing building safety.
NaveoPro, the latest monitoring system from ABB, offers a transparent and proactive way to install, monitor and maintain emergen- cy lighting systems from a mobile device.
Part of the ABB Ability platform of connected devices, this solution offers uncompromised cy- bersecurity and allows secure integration of data that enables key benefits for all users of the system.
With the NaveoPro app, self-contained emer- gency luminaires can be easily installed and programmed into a building in a fast and intui- tive way.
Through the ABB Ability platform, the sys- tem provides a digital overview via the cloud, giving instant information to assist resource
planning and enhance building safety, which can be processed directly from a smart device.
ABB’s global product manager, Thorsten Mueller, said NaveoPro allows users to manage their emergency lighting system, while keeping a record of all activity safely in the cloud.
“By harnessing the power of the cloud, it un- locks and provides access to data and account management tools,” he said.
“This can reduce operating costs dramati- cally and will be one of the key elements
for building owners and facility manag-
ers to reduce the total cost of ownership
of safety systems in the future.”
With emergency luminaire data stored in the cloud, the mobile app pro- vides a 24/7 overview of all smart mon- itored buildings via Google maps. Building maps can be uploaded and overlaid onto Google maps, showing its current status and providing a clear and precise location of the emergency
lighting luminaire.
Testing, inspection and maintenance
planning can be scheduled to ensure all emer- gency luminaires are working properly. In addi- tion, functional and duration tests can easily be programmed via the user-friendly app.
Faults are automatically detected and re- ported directly to a mobile device providing anytime, anyplace, anywhere notification.
To further enhance building safety, the sys- tem sends maintenance alerts in the NaveoPro app, so components can be replaced before a malfunction occurs.

Kelvion’s K Bloc gets an upgrade
 Kelvion’s K Block fully-welded plate heat exchanger.
KELVION HAS REFINED the K°Bloc fully- welded plate heat exchanger to further enhance its reliability and efficiency.
Designed and made in Germany, K°Bloc plays a leading role in Kelvion’s package of sustainable solutions, working across a broad range of liq- uids, temperatures and pressures.
It is ideally suited to the demands of the oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical industries for separating mixtures of oil, water and solids.
K°Bloc is the result of decades of experience with demanding applications, more
than 30 years of welded plate heat exchanger expertise and a commitment to continuous product improvement.
It is available in various materials and differ- ent plate corrugations.and is suitable for high temperature and pressure process applications up to 50 barg and 400°C.
The K°Bloc frame consists of four columns, top and bottom heads and four side panels. These side panels can be detached to allow free access for cleaning the plate package.
The individual plates are welded alternately on the two longitudinal sides and at the corners. There are two pressure-resistant channels sepa- rated from one another inside the unit.
The plate pack is installed between the four columns, four bolted panels and the top/bottom head plates, thereby forming a compact plate heat exchanger with two circuits. In the plate pack, the medium flows in a cross flow direction. The entire unit consists of a counter-current cross flow arrangement.
In addition, the heat transfer plates are corrugated to induce high turbulence and minimize fouling. The turbulent flow creates high shear stress on the walls, which literally scrubs deposits and fouling from the heat transfer surface. This is known as the ‘self- cleaning effect’.
Two different plate corrugations are available. Chevron corrugation enables effective heat transfer, while double dimple corrugation is the first choice for highly viscous or solid-containing media, as well as for vacuum applications.
