Orora first with Nozomi white ink
Orora in Melbourne has become the first printer in the world to have the newly launched white ink and print modes for its Nozomi digital corrugated board press.
EFI has just launched the new ink, and a trio of new print modes (versions), which trade colour gamut against ink usage accord- ing to application on the Nozomi.
With the new white ink, EFI says, packaging converters can create “impressive photographic images and vivid colours” directly
on brown kraft board liner. According to EFI, the Fiery NZ
1000 digital front end (DFE) driving the Nozomi press aims to simplify the process of creating spot or flood white layers for print jobs without users having to create specific white layers in supplied artwork.
The Nozomi now offers three new modes designed to optimise printing
capabilities and ink consumption. The top Photo mode aims to match of up to 97 per cent of the Pantone gamut in six colours with no ink
consumption limit.
Pop mode aims to reduce the co-
lour gamut slightly, without a significant difference in the final appearance, and is designed for pho- tographic printing where ink saving is an important criteria.
Finally, Eco mode works with a restricted colour range and the
lowest possible ink consumption. It is aimed at those printing pack- aging where lower cost is a criti- cal factor.
“EFI’s new print modes for Nozo- mi and our new white ink further strengthen our overall portfolio for efficient corrugated production with world-class digital print engine and packaging workflow solutions,” said José Luis Ramón Moreno, vice presi- dent and general manager, EFI Industrial Printing. ■
