APG’S TASTY REBATE
RIGHT TO REPAIR CLOSER
THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS ANNOUNCED
that it will introduce The Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme to Parliament in early 2021.
Following nearly a decade of campaign- ing by the Australian Automotive After- market Association (AAAA), the new law will make it illegal for car companies to withhold information from qualified inde- pendent mechanics and repairers.
There is a short consultation period which finishes at the end of January with the law expected to come into ef-
fect soon afterwards. “We started campaigning for this law a decade
ago and have been through two govern- ment inquiries and even through a vol- untary agreement in 2014 which was a complete failure,” said Stuart Charity, CEO of AAAA,
The new law is designed to provide a fairer playing field for the repair and service of the 74 automotive brands available in Australia in an industry worth $25 billion annually. The law will compel OEMs to share all mechanical and service information with the inde- pendent auto repair sector on “fair and reasonable commercial terms”.
AUTO PARTS GROUP (APG) IN CONJUNCTION
with local craft brewers Brendale Brew- ing Co. have canned a bespoke branded version of Brendale’s Linkfield lager to celebrate a year of hard work for their top customers. APG’s version of the Linkfield lager is called “The Rebate”, in homage to the traditional industry re- ward for valued customers.
APG has gone above and beyond to provide their customers with a gift that is not only delicious, but meaningful, and perhaps a bit tongue-in-cheek.
APG’s National Marketing & Sales Manager Scott Glover said The Rebate is APG’s commitment to innovation and thinking outside of the box, for something that is often a throw away
present at the end of the year. “It was a tough year for everyone involved in the motor industry, and we wanted to elevate our corporate Christmas gift to our customers this year to thank them for their continued support.” Glover said.
The Rebate is a true craft beer, brewed in a small batch by Brisbane Brewers, Brendale Brewing, and it is only headed for APG’s top 200 customers, so they an- ticipate a bit of competition for 2021 to get on the list. “The Rebate is a strictly limited batch, so there will be some peo- ple that miss out this year, including me” said Glover. Brendale is part of a group of craft brewers that are “Certi- fied Independent”.
BASF BMW PARTNERSHIP
FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS, BASF BECOMES
a preferred partner for the sales of paint related products (PRP) to the BMW glob- al refinish network.
BASF’s premium refinish brands Glasurit and R-M are existing preferred partners for the supply of paint solu- tions. Now, with the addition of PRP products including RODIM and other products, BASF strengthens its total of- fer in line with BMW’s growth strategy. The latest agreement includes PRP products to BMW authorised dealers and body shop networks around the world including Australia.
“We are very excited to bring RO- DIM as part of a complete one stop shop offer to BMW. RODIM benefits from BASF’s extensive experience in the coatings business and is perfectly aligned with our paint brands to help body shops streamline processes and optimise results,” said Chris Jackman, BASF’s Director of Strategic Account Management.
Glasurit and R-M continue to be rec- ommended for refinish paint repairs of BMW and MINI cars at all BMW author- ised dealers and body shop networks in 44 markets around the world.
