ADM: What are your plans for expansion? What will In- tract look like in five years?
ANSTESS: In five years Intract will look very similar to what we’re doing now. I think maybe you’ll see us diversifying into the technology space, into the ‘space race’, for want of a better way of saying
A N S T E S S : Intract has a really strong training workforce develop- ment and renewal strategy. It’s all about future-proofing; building resiliency/redundancy and upskilling for our workforce. We aim to have every one of our employees has on a personalised career development plan. Training for us is more than about accredited
it. We’re looking at ways to future-proof our workforce. We’re not looking at gi- normous expansion because we want to be able to maintain our workforce. Do we want to be able to employ more peo- ple? Absolutely, but steady as she goes because boom and bust will help no one.
“WE’VE COME UP WITH UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE WAYS TO GET EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES AND PEOPLE TO PLACES AND WE’VE BUILT A VERY VERSATILE, ROBUST WORKFORCE OF PEOPLE.”
construction training. We definitely deliver that – we have apprentices, trainees, interns, graduates – but we also have training around self-empowerment, about resilience, around fi- nancial literacy and budgeting, about decision making where we deliver training around keep- ing yourself whole and safe. We’re very aware of the RUOK space and the high rates of Ab- original suicide, particularly in the construc- tion and resources sector, which we’re a part of.
So we work very hard to provide a whole range of holistic options for training and de- velopment for our people that grow the best citizens for the nation, the best role models
What we will be looking to do is to di-
versify, to work with partners. You’ll see us
working more and more with partners to
help us grow our workforce into different
business areas and particularly with De-
fence, into those technology areas, to the
areas of artificial intelligence and to space sciences and the whole focus on STEM. I think you’ll also see us with more women in the operational workforce.
for families and communities and help to make that genera- tional change; our fathers, our mothers, sisters and our broth- ers are role models to all of our families through their em- ployment. They engage in community outreach. Our guys will come to us fairly regularly with an idea about what they could do to help and where we can support those ideas, we do. ■
ADM: And what about that training that you just spoke of? What’s the training framework within the company?
