to trumpet the many outstanding contributions of the Australian foodservice and hospitality sector.
One highlight was the launch of foodservice’s very first 30 Under 30 program. A celebration of young talent, our list reflects the diversity of our industry with chefs, restaurateurs, bar managers, cafe owners and entrepreneurs recognised.
The following month saw the unveiling of our sixth annual Dish of the Year competition with the country’s best burger, fish and chips, pizza, break roll and salad shining in the limelight.
September saw the announcement of our second Women in Foodservice Awards. Growing in popularity from 2017’s inaugural event, we had almost 500 entries. It was humbling to both judge and host the awards in the midst of such skill, creativity and experience.
Foodservice also amped up its drive and commitment to raising awareness about sustainable dining and food waste prevention, which is reflected in the first half of this issue, and no doubt we will continue to do so in 2019.
I will take this time to wish you all well, as for the next little while I will be on maternity leave. I look forward to sharing business-worthy ideas and inspiration on my return.
