PADDLE IN THE PIPELINE
MELBOURNE-BASED Trimec Flow Products offers a new range of insertion paddle wheel flow meters for metering flow of larger diameter pipelines.
The Dualpulse insertion paddle wheel flow transducer can measure the flow of water, water-like liquids or a variety of low viscosity liquids in full, large diameter pipes.
The sensor is inserted into the piping through a suitable fitting, where the liquid flow through the pipe results in a rotation of the affixed paddle wheel.
Insertion paddle wheel sensors can offer a cost-effective solution to full bore flowmeters, while the sensors also have a tolerance to dirt and solids.
The Trimec Flow Products Dualpulse insertion paddle range is available for diameter pipelines varying from 40 to 2500mm.
BREWERY GETS NEW FILL LINE
THE new beer filler technology from Krones helped modernise an Austrian brewery.
The bottling machine manufacturer installed a new Modulfill HES line for glass bottles at the Murau brewery, boosting its capacity to 36,000 fills per hour.
The beer filler, which can also handle CSD, incorporates new technology and design enhancements such as oil-free bottle lifts, and a serrated drip edge at the lifting-rod assembly cam.
Murau managing director Josef Rieberer says: “Everything is working perfectly, as if they had all been running for ever – just as you would expect from Krones. We’re rather proud that we’re the first brewers in Central Europe to use this ultra-modern filling technology.”
THE CUSTOM FAN FIT
AIR movement specialist Fanquip has a range of hooded roof fans manufactured across six common profile bases, which can provide fresh air supplies without major adjustments to company buildings.
Fanquip’s hooded roof fans are supplied with a bases of corrugated iron, Trimdek, Super Six, Spandek, Double Rib & Span 4, and Longspan.
By using one of these profile bases, installation costs and time can be cut by up to 60 per cent, however, a curb base can be used to accommodate a roof profiles that do no match one of these six profiles.
The hooded roof fans feature a heavy duty fibreglass base moulded to each roof profile, allowing the fans to be installed without an upstand or fan base. The fibreglass spigot also
provides weather resistance and has an alloy spigot ring for rigidity.
Heat or odours are common reasons for needing such hooded roof fans installed, but if dust can also be extracted as easily as air or gases.
Fanquip units can be strategically placed on the facility roof to achieve a controlled draft, as well as extract heat, steam, dust stale air and fumes from industrial environments.
Fanquip offers a 12-month guarantee on mechanical and electrical components of its hooded roof fans.

NEXT GEN VALVES FROM SMC
SMC has expanded its portfolio of three port pressure relief valves for filter regulator lubricator (FRL) units.
The VP17 series of modular valves allows for easy connection to FRL
units where electrically operated valves are required.
The valves save on space as they do not require piping adaptors.
These residual pressure relief type valves feature an IP65- rated enclosure and is flexible when it comes to mounting.
It is also possible to select a flow direction of left to right, or right to left.
SMC ANZ product marketing manager Guiomar Fernandez says the VP17 modular valves are suited for a range of environments, including pneumatic applications with air preparation equipment and where it is necessary to exhaust air to carry out maintenance.
“The efficiencies of
this valve series are particularly notable with as little power as 0.35W required to operate the DC type,” Fernandez says.
“In addition to these
electrically operated valves,
our range also includes
manually operated valves [VHS], soft start up function [AV] and safety standard compliant valves [VG/VP].
“Each of these offers the flexibility and adaptability that our customers have come to expect from SMC.”
The VP17 modular valves completes the SMC range of three-port valves, which can be connected to FRL units.
The international pneumatics provider offers more than 12,000 basic products, with over 700,000 variations, including an extensive range of multi-port valves.
SMC operates in 83 countries, with its Australian headquarters based in Sydney and its New Zealand headquarters based in Auckland.
