NZ BABY FORMULA FIRST TO BE FREE FROM PALM OIL
New Zealand-based Little Oak Company’s baby formula range has been certified as the world’s first palm oil free baby formula. The all-natural product is made from goat’s milk and has low levels of lactose.
The baby formula range gained its certification from the International Palm Oil Free Certification Accreditation Programme, where Little Oak Company founder Elke Pascoe said it was necessary to create products that care equally for young ones as well as the world.
“Palm oil inhibits the absorption of calcium, fats and essential Omega 3 fatty acids – three essentials elements for a baby’s development, so we had to remove it. And it was for similar reasons that we looked to replace canola,” said Pascoe.

GO FOR GOLD
Before a pandemic got in the way, Danone released two specially designed YoPRO yoghurts to celebrate the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (now postponed until 2021), as it partners with some of Australia’s best athletes for the launch.
The specialised packaging will feature across two new flavours – the cherry YoPRO pouch and the brand’s first dual flavour, the pineapple guava YoPRO pot. Both varieties come in green and gold packs and feature the Australian Olympics coat of arms.
World number one women’s tennis player Ash Barty, Olympic gold medallist Kyle Chalmers and Commonwealth Games gold medallist high jumper Brandon Starc are among those athletes who will be taking part in the YoPRO campaign.
Both the pineapple guava YoPRO pot and cherry YoPRO pouch contain 15 grams of protein, less than one per cent fat, and have no added sugar or sweeteners. The new products will be available in Woolworths.
