HOT PICK: HP Indigo 12000 HD
Currie Group serves up high definition HP Indigo
PRINT21 PANEL: With technology that effectively doubles the resolution of the already impressive B2 digital colour press, opening up potentially
lucrative markets such as security and photo realism, the HP Indigo 12000 HD fully deserves to be given Hot Pick status.
Currie Group hosted an Australian-first HP Indigo demonstration on its stand at PrintEx, with the new B2 HP Indigo 12000 HD Digital Press,
with HD meaning high definition.
The HP Indigo 12000 HD has new print
technology which effectively doubles the resolution to 1685dpi. Phil Rennell, sales and marketing director at Currie Group told Print21, “More than this, though, it has a series of different line screens which can
be used in four, five, six or seven colours. It can produce a broader range of images, for instance for the photo realist market.
“The highlight of the HP Indigo 12000 HD Digital Press is that people will see the new high-definition image
quality, the new FM screening – it is
the highest-quality digital printing press that there is,” he said. “Using the breakthrough high-definition imaging system, the press delivers the smoothest and sharpest prints in the industry, exceeding offset quality.”
The setup on the stand also featured the Horizon SmartStacker, which is interfaced with the HP Indigo 12000 HD. “We are continuing our theme of automation, integrating our machine with the SmartStacker and perfect binder as a fully- automated workflow, but also removing
as many touchpoints as we can from the operation,” said Rennell.
HP Indigo was a prominent feature on Currie Group’s stand, with digital presses
including the HP Indigo 7r in-line with a Horizon booklet-maker; and the HP Indigo 6900 Digital Press – the label printing system – complemented by an ABG Digicon finishing line.
Rennell said, “The HP Indigo 7r is here so we can show printers the benefits of investing in a remanufactured Indigo. The investment level is considerably lower than a new model. It will provide
a way in to Indigo digital printing for many print businesses.”
Courtney invests $2.5m with Currie Group
Aldo Burcheri’s Courtney Group signed a $2.5m deal at PrintEx with Currie Group for a major production upgrade for its Melbourne print centre. The deal was the biggest inked at PrintEx.
The investment includes a new HP Indigo 12000 B2 press, together with an HP Indigo 7900 and a new Horizon StitchLiner Mark III, all supplied by Currie Group. There is also an HP R2000 flatbed UV, and HP 570 roll-to-roll latex printer.
Speaking on Currie Group’s stand Burcheri said, “Courtney is committed to staying at the head of the market. We need to invest to be able to have the solutions to offer our customers more. The new
HP Indigo printers will enable us to grow further into markets such as variable data print, direct mail and point of sale.
“We are a business that is always looking to innovate and move forward. We were the first in the country to install the B2 HP Indigo. The HP Indigo 12000 we have ordered has new capabilities, such as
