invisible ink, that will enable us to offer more to our customers, and give them more value.”
Courtney entered the wide format market 18 months ago, and the two new HP latex printers – a flatbed and a roll to roll – will boost its offering.
Burcheri said, “Print is a tough market, we have to keep investing to keep ahead of the pack. We have a great relationship with Currie Group going back seven years now, so that was a big part of our decision to upgrade with the two new Indigo presses, along with their capabilities.”
Courtney will keep one of its existing
HP Indigo B2s, and with the new HP Indigo 7900 Digital Press now has an SRA3 capability as well. Burcheri said, “It gives us extra flexibility and options.”
David Currie, executive chairman of Currie Group, congratulated Burcheri on the stand, as did HP Indigo global vice president Alon Bar-Shany, who was at
the show. Currie said, “Courtney Group
is a well-run focused business that has embraced digital print and HP Indigo,
its growth evidence of the success of its strategy. We look forward to working with Aldo and the team for many years to come, and to seeing these latest installations help drive the business forward.” 21

Minimum operator input was the go on Currie Group’s stand when it came to its finishing equipment, which included a host of new
launches from Horizon, including the new Horizon StitchLiner Mark III.
The StitchLiner Mark III is effectively
the first new StitchLiner for 18 years, and comes with a host of new features, including all direction jogging, a new three knife trimmer, and a longer plough fold.
Bernie Robinson, managing director at Currie Group, said, “Finishing has moved from labour intensive to highly automated. The latest generation of Horizon solutions offers minimum downtime and high productivity with minimal input. It was good to welcome printers onto Currie Group’s stand to show them the production efficiencies Horizon equipment can offer them.”
Robinson said, “The new Horizon StitchLiner Mark III will run a Horizon HOF-400 feeder unit with a CF-400 cover feeder, and will allow the printers to do
an A4 landscape booklet which is stitched, folded, and three-way trimmed in one pass. It will take both digital and traditional offset work,” he said.
On its stand Currie Group also had the new Horizon BQ-480, which will allow printers to use either EVA or PUR glue.
“The BQ-480 is fully automatic and touchscreen controlled, with built-in spine scoring and hinge scoring as well,” said Robinson.
Twin Loop to stay ahead with latest Horizon perfect binder
Sydney finishing house Twin Loop Binding is investing in a new Horizon BQ-480 perfect binder from Currie Group, signing the deal at PrintEx.
The automatic, touchscreen-controlled BQ-480 also has built-in spine and hinge scoring.
Wayne Rubin, director of Twin Loop, said having been a loyal customer of Currie Group for many years made the choice an easy one.
“To have a machine from Currie Group is a no-brainer. We have enjoyed a strong, beneficial, relationship. It was a natural progression to upgrade our equipment.
“My business needs to keep on the
front foot – we need to keep looking
at new technology to stay ahead of the competition,” he said, adding, “The new BQ-480 has a host of new features that enhance our offering. By purchasing this new equipment we will be one step ahead of what’s in the market, and it will enable us to continue giving good service and excellent quality while reducing makeready time, which keeps the cost down,” he said.
Will Currie of Currie Group told Print21 that he has known Rubin for several years, and that this investment was born out of the strong partnership between the two companies. “It’s a good time for Wayne to invest,” he said. 21
