Starleaton’s stand was the largest at PrintEx, with an application- focused display, celebrating 40 Years of Innovation for the family
owned business.
The stand featured both equipment and
consumables, and according to CEO Ben Eaton the focus was on end-to-end solution. He said, “Starleaton has always been focused on what is best for the customer. We seek to provide end-to-end solutions in whatever format is best, across software, printing equipment, colour management, media and finishing. We bring all the sprockets together and make them work, and printers know Starleaton is a partner they can rely on.
“Starleaton is a long way from a box seller. We have the full back end support, and applications engineers, we know how the media we supply works with the hardware. The skill shortage in the industry means that our customers rely on us, that is our position, which we hold through investing in our staff. The knowledge they can bring to our customers is invaluable.
“We take a long term view, we work with our customers to build sustainable businesses, advising on investments, solutions, outcomes. Take digital textile printing – it is flavour of the month, but there is a lot more to it than just having a printer that will produce great quality fabric printing. It is technical, and there is a lot to it in terms of the whole eco- system. Starleaton will give our clients
the full picture, and that service is appreciated by the market.”
Equipment on display included the latest super-wide 3.2-metre EFI Pro 32r and the hybrid EFI 16h device, as well as a range of Epson solvent, textile, photo, and poster printers. Eaton said, “The EFI Pro 32r is an outstanding print solution, the quality and productivity is something to see.”
The Pro 32r joins the existing Pro 24f and Pro 16h in EFI’s entry-level wide-format printer range.
The 3.2m-wide machine can also print simultaneously on two 1.6m-wide rolls. With the EFI Super-Range XF LED inks, it can print at a resolution of up to 635dpi at a maximum speed of 207sqm/hr. It has the EFI Fiery digital front-end, with Fast Rip acceleration technology.
The eight Ricoh Gen 5 printheads
have a minimum drop size of 7pl. It
uses four colours plus optional white
ink. It also has the EFI cool-cure LED imaging technology, which reduces power consumption, and extends the range of printable substrates.
Target applications include banners, billboards, building wraps, flags, floor graphics, POP graphics, posters, textiles, signage, wall graphics, and wallpaper.
It is aimed at mid-volume produces, with the h3 and h5 – shown on the EFI booth – aimed at high volume printers.
Options available for the Pro 32r include slitters, automatic blockout printing, manual backlit printing and a software
productivity pack that features enhanced tools to reduce media waste.
John Buitenkamp, product manager at Starleaton, said at PrintEx the company aimed to show what is possible with print. Buitenkamp said, “Visitors were being taken through an unboxing experience, as they explored the imaginative and skilfully designed space, packed with an astonishing array of applications.”
“Walls, floors, roofs, and virtually every other surface were being printed, using a wide variety of media and print techniques.”
The company also had finishing technologies including the Flexa XY cutter; Flexadome doming machine for 3D label effects; Impulsa sewing machine; XPro calendar and laminator; Neschen cold laminator; and the Zünd G3 3XL 3200 digital cutting table, which was the “jewel of the finishing product line up”, said Buitenkamp.
Consumables also starred, including Brett Martin plastic sheets and Alumigraphics; Neschen self-adhesive wall, floor and outdoor graphics media; Hahnemühle fine art papers and Contra Vision window films; and Oppboga waterproof outdoor board.
Other highlights included Colour Management Health Checks, and a special retrospective of the company’s history, including a tribute to founder Peter Eaton. 21
