CURRENT DEFENCE CONTRACTS
Austal Australia is currently delivering the following defence contracts;
Sea 3036 - Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement (PPB-R) Project, now comprising 22 x 39.5 metre steel hull Guardian-class Patrol Boats (GCPB’s) under construction in Henderson, Western Australia for the Commonwealth of Australia. 15 x GCPB’s have been delivered since December 2018 (as at November 2022); Sea 1445 - Evolved Cape Class Patrol Boat Project, comprising 8 x 58 metre patrol boats for the RAN, are under construction at Henderson. 3 x Evolved Capes have been delivered as at November 2022; Austal is leading the Patrol Boat Autonomy Trial (PBAT) for Trusted Autonomous Systems Defence Cooperative Research Centre and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Warfare Innovation Navy Branch. PBAT will establish robotic, automated and autonomous elements on a patrol boat; providing a proof-of-concept demonstrator, for optionally crewed or autonomous operations for the RAN into the future. The trial will also explore the legal, regulatory pathways and requirements of operating an autonomous vessel at sea; In-Service Support for the Australian Border Force fleet of 8 x Cape-class Patrol Boats (CCPB’s) continues, through Austal’s service centres in Cairns, Darwin and Henderson In-Service Support for the RAN fleet of 2 x Cape-class Patrol Boats (CCPB’s) continues and 3 x Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats (ECCPB’s) continues at the same locations.
AREAS OF INTEREST IN DEFENCE
Austal has partnered with Raytheon Australia and BMT to bid
for the Land 8710/1A Littoral Manoeuvre Vessel – Medium (LMV-M) requirement for the Australian Army. If selected, the 18 x Australian Independent Littoral Manoeuvre Vessels (ILMV’s) will be constructed at Austal’s Henderson shipyard. Austal continues
