effort – their largest ever to date. Based on performance and
ability to add significant value, the Providence team has grown to support multiple additional DSTG research Divisions (Aerospace) and streams (NGTF and HSW), across Australia. The Defence Intelligence Group is undergoing a significant transformation of capability with Providence playing a key enabling role across several functions, including full spectrum targeting, enterprise protective security and strategic intelligence planning. The result of the transformation will be an adaptive Defence intelligence function
that is ready to anticipate and respond to Australia’s growing geostrategic uncertainty.
AREAS OF INTEREST IN DEFENCE
With the recent passing of amendments to Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (the SOCI Act) and consultation on risk management program rules, Providence is poised to advise clients on the impact of the Act in Defence and the broader Defence enterprise, which may include commercial managers of critical assets. Specifically, Providence believes there’s substantial opportunity to assist Defence clients understand complex workforce requirements needed to deliver a capable, agile, and resilient workforce. Other areas of interest to Providence, include support to cultural reform, including ways to deliver capability with agility and flexibility and the need to develop integrated teams, consisting of a mix of uniformed, public service, and contractor personnel.
For example, Providence responded to the Land C4 Combat Capability Request for Information (RFI), with a small network of partners who, with its own capabilities in strategy, transformation, and delivery, bolstered its ability to support the Review in recognised training design and delivery, strategic workforce planning, senior leadership development and executive coaching. Below-the-line, Providence is seeking to partner with Australian- owned sovereign SMEs who, again, have their own deep specialisations, typically in engineering, technology, or other innovations. By forming a suitable alliance, Providence and partners can offer Defence a significantly lower risk solution when founded on the combined capacity and capability of all alliance members. Taking a true partnership approach with larger Defence industry companies, including Defence prime system integrators (PSIs) is also an area Providence is keen to develop and grow.
