Compressors, Condenser & Evaporators
Smart solution for piston and screw compressors
COMPRESSORS ARE CONSIDERED THE HEART OF INDUSTRIAL REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS.
WITH ITS SERVICE product, the GEA Omni Retrofit Panel, GEA provides state-of-the art technology to keep them up-to-date with a safe, reliable and efficient control unit.
Completely standardized and available as an off-the-shelf service product, the GEA Omni Ret- rofit Panel offers a smart solution for customers to upgrade and modernize the control of their piston and screw compressors – whether they are manufactured by GEA or another supplier. With its high definition, intuitive and multi- touch screen connected to sensors on the com- pressors, the control panel is especially easy to use. The hardware is designed to allow the con- nection of different types of compressor sensors, motor current sensors and solenoid coil voltages. By simply connecting GEA Omni Retrofit Pan- els to an Ethernet network, the use of wireless technology and smart phone or tablet viewing is possible.
Authorized service staff and service compa- nies can access the control system remotely and GEA Omni can send email and text mes- sage notifications. It is preconfigured in more than 25 languages.
For connection to other control systems, GEA Omni Retrofit Panels support Modbus TCP/IP protocols for data exchange. GEA Omni Retrofit Panels are supplied with all items necessary for easy installation and on-site configuration, with minimal downtime. Easy software enhance- ments via USB are also possible. ✺

Big changes ahead for industrial refrigeration
INNOVATIONS IN THE field of industrial re- frigeration systems is having a marked impact on the market with significant shifts occurring across a number of areas.
Innovations in the field of refrigerants have witnessed several alternatives and successive changes like HFCs to Ammonia and then Am- monia to CO2 and today, the focus has returned to Ammonia (NH3) and CO2 cascade.
These innovations have been positively im- pacting the industrial refrigeration system mar- ket in the last few years, according to a report by Insight Partners.
“The refrigeration system with Ammonia has gained substantial popularity in the market owing to three distinctive advantages such as natural occurrence and thus is an environ- ment-friendly gas, possesses extreme thermo- dynamic capabilities and requires minimum heat transfer.”
The report said the global industrial re- frigeration system market is expected to grow to AU$ 47.06 billion by 2025 from AU$ 27.99 billion in 2017, growing at a CAGR of 6.8%.
Insight Partners expects Ammonia
to lead the market with CO2 also expe- riencing exponential growth during the fore- cast period.
“In this segment of the market the design of the compressor is extremely critical for any man- ufacturer as it bears the major cost in the entire industrial refrigeration system,” the report said.
“Hence, most of the players have laid high emphasis on compressor designs to reduce their production costs and increase operation- al efficiencies.
“In the current scenario, the players in the industrial refrigeration system market are us- ing carbon dioxide CO2 individually as well as

cascading CO2 and NH3 as the refrigerants. CO2 is easily available and is much cheaper compared to its counterparts, which helps manufacturers to reduce the upfront cost of the final product and also increase the opera- tional efficiency of the system.
“The cascade of CO2 and NH3 possesses much more efficiency in refrigeration, and also saves huge amounts of energy, thereby helping the end user to reduce their operating costs.” ✺
