around looking for new products to put on their shelves, i also saw many high profile busi- ness owners who were probably looking for the products or new techniques which will make a difference in their business.
I had a sense that there three key themes at Chil- venta. For example, connectivity was very strong (yes great for Frigbot), every brand had some kind of new cloud-based solution. The other strong theme was natural refrigerants with lots of prod- ucts on display and plenty of options. The third strong theme was energy efficiency, Australia is not the only country with high electricity prices.
FRIGBOT FOUNDER, DARREN Dwyer, has just returned from his very first Chillventa Exhi- bition in Germany and provides a first-hand ac- count of his experience.
Chillventa is the largest refrigeration trade- show in the world, its held in Nuremberg Germa- ny every two years. The venue is called the Nuremberg Messe, and this place is incredibly huge. No need to get overwhelmed because the Germans are expert event organisers and they have arranged the exhibitors into nine catego- ries and placed them in the nine exhibit halls.
My small Australian company is Frigbot, which is a technology solution for connecting refrigeration equipment to the internet, ena- bling configuration, monitoring and reports. Frigbot was placed in hall five which is most-
ly for electronic controls and electronic tech- nology. All the worlds well known brands were in hall five including Carel which had an amazing display.
Tecumseh had a great exhibit which con- tained a new condensing unit fitted with IoT sen- sors and some new very small compressors. And there were many other European brands at the show that we don't really see in Australia.
Being an exhibitor means I get access a few days early and I get to attend exhibitor events, I also go behind the scenes. I wandered through halls in the morning before opening and late at night after closing and found something inter- esting in every hall.
The crowd was huge, and all your local Aus- tralian wholesalers were at Chillventa walking

Biggest event ever
CHILLVENTA 2018 was once again a resounding success.
It saw significant increases in all trade fair KPIs. An increase of +10% to 35,490 trade visitors, around +4% to 1,019 exhibitors and last but not least, a 2% rise in display area make it the biggest Chillventa ever.
Held last month in Germany, the Chillventa Congress was also a success.
The high-calibre conference broke a new record
with 302 delegates in attendance (+20%). Exhibition director, Daniela Heinkel, said there
were 35,490 visitors to Chillventa.
Two-thirds of exhibitors came from outside of
Germany.
“The fact that nine out of ten visitors stated that
they intended to attend the next Chillventa in 2020 shows how committed the industry is to this event,” Heinkel said.
